In the 2010 Election, all 99 seats in the Ohio House of Representatives are up for election. Ohio Representatives serve 2-year terms and are limited to 4 terms, or 8 years of service. Ohio Senators serve 4-year terms and are limited to 2 terms, or 8 years of service.
Members of the General Assembly have a direct impact on Ohio businesses, workers and consumers through their deliberations and enactment of the state’s multi-billion dollar budget, and through legislation on issues including taxes, workers’ compensation, the state education system and its publicly funded colleges and universities, public infrastructure planning and improvements, health care issues, local government guidelines and more.
In many ways, members of the General Assembly have the potential to have the most immediate impact on the daily lives of all Ohioans. Yet many races for the state legislature are eclipsed by the flood of information for higher-profile races further up the ballot.
